Letterpress, Weddings, and Farmer's Market

I will be returning to school, most likely in the spring, to continue taking graphic design courses. My true love with graphic design is anything stationary, especially anything done with a letterpress. Since I probably can't afford to buy a letterpress or even a vintage one anytime soon I plan on starting off with digital printing. I can't wait to make our invitations and save the dates for the wedding because it will be a fun littler project for us and a way to get a feel for it.

I adore these prints by yeehaw industries, all done by hand on a vintage letterpress.

On the topic of weddings, stationary, and farmer's market inspired prints
I love this idea for a guest book..

I love Amy's blog because it always has great D.I.Y. ideas for weddings, parties, and entertaining.

These postcards she used are from zetta florence and by Cavallini & Co., who also make super cute vintage style rubber stamps!

Another image from Eat Drink Chic of Amy's wedding day kiss. I love the photography here, the colors are perfect.

invitations by akimbo and photo via oh so beautiful paper

As for invitations I want something very simple, cute, and to have a rustic almost earthy feel. I love the idea of wood or even Kraft card stock with black lettering and a hand sketched map. I want my invites and save the dates to look hand done, but with a little work done on the computer because it would just take forever to do.

The barn and view was better than I even imagined. just perfect.

Time to learn how to sew

I really do wish I could afford this dress/playsuit but it just isn't going to happen. All of whirling turban's dresses, playsuits, skirts, etc. seem so well made and I keeply agree with the price especially this one it's so unique. Ryan's mom sews and wants to take on some vintage dress projects.

This is another dress from  whirling turban, love this style seems so flattering.

The style above is simliar to the pattern that  came with the course Ryan's Mom is taking. So hopefully very soon I will have something similiar to these two styles. One day maybe I'll have these ones as well! They even make wedding dresses! check out the course here at Gertie's New Blog for Better Sewing.

Joan, Roger,Don...how I miss you

I still can't believe season 4 of Mad Men started around this time a year ago and here I was thinking it would start up again for season 5 but no no, not til MARCH! but for you I will wait. Can't wait to see what Janie Bryant has come up with for the costumes and so soooo much more! This show is amazing for way too many reason but number one is the attention to detail is right on and of course the story itself.

Joan and Faye have been by far my two favorite for fashion inspiration and have the best looks, in my opinion, on the show. The reason i started wearing pencil skirts was because of Joan and several times I have tried my best to recreate these similar hairstyles. Oh and of course Joan being the reason I bought my pen necklace on Etsy, one of the only necklaces I will wear.

as for the furniture, one day my apartment/house will look like a mad men set. I have always been in love with the 50s and 60s but never though I would take it as far as wanting the furniture. Of course being so popular now it might not come easy.

Amazing.

Now at Last

So far the only thing I have for the wedding is a box full of blue mason jars, which will be part of the center pieces. So much of my inspiration has come from The Haystack Needle or 100 layer cake. Both amazing blogs. I knew blue mason jars would be simple enough and fit the barn/rustic feel perfectly.

I also hope we can pull something like this off. Either way the barn will consist of white Christmas lights and chinese lanterns, also white or cream. This photo is by and amazing wedding photographer,One love Photo. Unfortunately, we can't afford to pay her to come out here but I still enjoy looking at her and her husbands work for inspiration.

photo from 100 layer cake and again Jen's wedding over at The Haystack Needle.
I always knew I would want our photos all over the reception, from childhood photos to the years we have already spent together. I love the idea of clothes pinning them to twine or string along the barn walls. The decorating we do is going to be very close to who we are, everything DIY, simple, and minimal. Rectangle, long tables are a must in the barn, some burlap for table runners and more mason jars to drink from.

both photos from 100 layer cake.

......oh and paper swirly straws of course.

mustard

Waiting on these lovelies to arrive. I adore Seychelles foot wear. They are the closet, I think, to Swedish Hasbeens and more affordable but I will have my mint hasbeens one day!
I plan on getting this 50s inspired dress when it's back in stock at Mod Cloth.
I so badly want to go out and adventure to some locations for outfit post but I don't think I want to set up my tripod, so I'm waiting on Ryan to have some time off to help me out.

Not mustard yellow but a few more dresses to add to my wishlist ( : I am so bad.

summer makeup

Foundation : Make Up For Ever HD

Blush: Nars Orgasm

Eyeliner: Stilla Stay All day liquied liner ( really does, and is so dark and easy to use)

Highlighter : Shell cream color base

Bronzer : used for contouring cheeks and all places where the sun hits, Smashbox

Concealer: best under eye concealer, Make Up Forever Lift

Lipstick : MAC Super Nouveau

The first step I did was use St Tropez bronzing mouse, It goes on so nicely, easy, non orange and even makes your foundation apply so much better.
