Meet Scrappy the Squirrel.

Found this little guy in my parents back yard. He was so tiny when we first found him and wouldn't stop following us around and climbing on us. He was attacked by another squirrel and his back legs stopped working. We contacted several rehabilitators to take him and for advice. No one could take him, some told us to put him to sleep and others said his legs would come back and he would be fine. I gave him a week and his legs came back, was such an amazing thing to see. We have had him for a few months now, trying to let him grow a little thru winter. He seems to be pretty happy living in his outdoor cage. Scrappy loves almonds and avacados. I am so attached but when the little guy is ready we will send him on his way but he gets  plenty of tree time and roaming time.

oh you know just a few things I want to order from the one and only Modcloth
I have always thought they were cute but have leanred so much about them and appreciate them so much more. Scrappy is so playful, like a little kitten.

New obsessions for September.

Halloween is coming up : I either want to do some sort of take on Nicki Minaj, especially like the photo above.

I love Babydoll's makeup from suckerpunch. So 60's and doll-like.

False lashes of course!

I have decided I want a 1/4 sleeve. I love them on girls, especially pretty ones like this and very colorful.

Headbands and bandannas.

.........and duh Fall is almost here!!!

stop staring!

I need a reason to wear dresses like this everyday! Sexy but classy. Very Joan Holloway.  I should have a little more time now plus i just love everything fall, boots, cardigans, and maybe some pencil dresses like these beautiful ones from Stop Staring! Dresses like these come easier for me and i feel like flatter my body more than summer dresses, so I will be way more motivated to update with some outfit post. Of course I just have more time too!

Bells will ring, the sun will shine, whooa, I'll be his & he'll be mine.

I know for sure I want a tea length dress but it's impossible to find a decent one or any at all. I'm thinking I could find a A-line or ballgown and get it altered to a tea length.

Best Job Ever..

so yeah Janie Bryant, the costume designer of Mad Men, makes me want to go back with my orginal plans since I was in Middle school and be a fashion designer. I just knew I would never survive in that industry and didn't want to leave New England or even the east coast. Her job on the other hand, I'm sure is a lot of work but not as caty and bitchy, just amazing really. I wouldn't mind owning a vintage boutquie but even that would be a struggle to get a business started, well worth it if I stuck to it.

Anyways, I picked up her book, The Fashion File. Love it and love her.

Brigitte Bardot, develooing a new love for her. Makes me want to blow out my hair and wear a thick headband. I already, since i was like 19 been wearing the thick cat eyeliner.

My tv inspiration, I wold love to live in pencil dresses.

Letterpress, Weddings, and Farmer's Market

I will be returning to school, most likely in the spring, to continue taking graphic design courses. My true love with graphic design is anything stationary, especially anything done with a letterpress. Since I probably can't afford to buy a letterpress or even a vintage one anytime soon I plan on starting off with digital printing. I can't wait to make our invitations and save the dates for the wedding because it will be a fun littler project for us and a way to get a feel for it.

I adore these prints by yeehaw industries, all done by hand on a vintage letterpress.

I love this idea for a guest book..

I love Amy's blog because it always has great D.I.Y. ideas for weddings, parties, and entertaining.

These postcards she used are from zetta florence and by Cavallini & Co., who also make super cute vintage style rubber stamps!

Another image from Eat Drink Chic of Amy's wedding day kiss. I love the photography here, the colors are perfect.

invitations by akimbo and photo via oh so beautiful paper

As for invitations I want something very simple, cute, and to have a rustic almost earthy feel. I love the idea of wood or even Kraft card stock with black lettering and a hand sketched map. I want my invites and save the dates to look hand done, but with a little work done on the computer because it would just take forever to do.

Time to learn how to sew

I really do wish I could afford this dress/playsuit but it just isn't going to happen. All of whirling turban's dresses, playsuits, skirts, etc. seem so well made and I keeply agree with the price especially this one it's so unique. Ryan's mom sews and wants to take on some vintage dress projects.

This is another dress from  whirling turban, love this style seems so flattering.

The style above is simliar to the pattern that  came with the course Ryan's Mom is taking. So hopefully very soon I will have something similiar to these two styles. One day maybe I'll have these ones as well! They even make wedding dresses! check out the course here at Gertie's New Blog for Better Sewing.

Joan, Roger,Don...how I miss you

I still can't believe season 4 of Mad Men started around this time a year ago and here I was thinking it would start up again for season 5 but no no, not til MARCH! but for you I will wait. Can't wait to see what Janie Bryant has come up with for the costumes and so soooo much more! This show is amazing for way too many reason but number one is the attention to detail is right on and of course the story itself.

Joan and Faye have been by far my two favorite for fashion inspiration and have the best looks, in my opinion, on the show. The reason i started wearing pencil skirts was because of Joan and several times I have tried my best to recreate these similar hairstyles. Oh and of course Joan being the reason I bought my pen necklace on Etsy, one of the only necklaces I will wear.

as for the furniture, one day my apartment/house will look like a mad men set. I have always been in love with the 50s and 60s but never though I would take it as far as wanting the furniture. Of course being so popular now it might not come easy.

Amazing.
